About the I am the Union project

Welcome to the I am the Union project.

NOW is the time to lift labor.

Rank and file members of Unions. Retirees and former members who have paved the way for our generation to fight another day.

NOW is the time to celebrate our victories large and small.

Too often in our movement we become caught in the chaos of crisis and forget to celebrate the incredible work happening across the country every single day.

NOW is the time to archive our history.

How many rank and file members have we lost who's history and stories have been lost forever.

The I am the Union project is for every member.

Who is proud to be or have been a member of their Union and our movement towards and more equitable and just society.

Who wants to share their personal stories, and the stories what is possible when people come together to make change.

Who will share their story with the rest of the world, to stand in solidarity with fellow members and to welcome those who have never been members of a union into our family.

Who wants to share the story of a Union Brother or Sister who has passed - to keep their story and their spirit alive in our movement.

Our stories, our victories, our history, our union family.

Unions are made up of people - millions and millions of people across this county just like you and me.

The teacher who lives next door, or the bus driver who picks up our children up for school. The mailman, the nurse, or the street sweeper. The journalist who reports our morning news, the electrician who keeps our lights on, the fire fighter who arrives in times of crisis to help. Tens of thousands of professions are organized into our movement.

We are rank and file members. We are neighbors, friends and family.

We are the union. These are our stories.

Welcome to the I am the Union Project.

We went to the city council, and they tabled the issue "indefinitely".  We organized our members, and people in the community to demand that city council take action, and together, we won.
